Cadillac Escalade review

The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size SUV that's been Cadillac's flagship SUV since it was first introduced in 1999. It's known for its luxurious interior and exterior, powerful engine, and high-end features. If you're looking for an SUV that's sure to turn heads, the Cadillac Escalade is a great option. Read our Cadillac Escalade review to know more!

Are Cadillac Escalades a good car?

The Cadillac Escalade is a great car for those who want a luxurious and powerful SUV. It has a spacious interior and exterior, plenty of high-end features, and a strong engine. It's also one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs on the market, which is a plus. However, it's not the best choice for those who are looking for a family-friendly SUV, as it doesn't have many features that are geared towards families.  Even the base model comes well-equipped with a litany of infotainment and driver assistance features, so many buyers may be fine sticking with it. However, if you want a bit more comfort from your Escalade, consider the Premium Luxury trim. It adds several seating upgrades, as well as many more active safety features.

The Cadillac Escalade has a base luxury trim and a flagship SUV trim. It's available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The base luxury trim comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and automatic high beams. The flagship SUV trim adds on 20-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free liftgate, and a sunroof.

The Cadillac Escalade is available in eight exterior colors: Black, White, Silver, Gray, Brown, Red, Blue, and Gold.

Cadillac Escalade interior

The Cadillac Escalade has a spacious and well-designed interior. It comes standard with leather seats, heated front seats, power-adjustable driver's seat and a heated steering wheel. The passenger's seat is also power-adjustable, but it's not heated.

The Escalade seats eight passengers comfortably with its standard seating configuration. This includes two front bucket seats, a second-row bench seat that seats three, and a third-row bench seat that also seats three. If you opt for the available second-row captain's chairs, however, the third-row bench seat is removed and capacity is reduced to seven. All seating positions in the Escalade offer plenty of head- and legroom, even for taller adults. The third row is best suited for children or shorter adults, but it can accommodate full-size adults in a pinch. Thanks to its large size and standard third-row seating, the Escalade is one of the most spacious SUVs on the market.

Faux leather is used in the base luxury trim, but all other trims receive the real deal, with Platinum models getting soft semi-aniline hides. Leather-covered dash and door panels, aluminum speaker grilles, and adjustable interior ambient lighting provide an upscale appearance.

The Cadillac Escalade comes standard with an infotainment system that includes a 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Bose audio system is also standard. A 19-speaker Studio Sound system is standard on the Luxury, Sport, and Premium Luxury models, but Platinum trims get the AKG Studio Reference system with a whopping 36 speakers.

Cadillac Escalade driving experience

The Cadillac Escalade gets an EPA-estimated 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. On long trip, that option felt well worth the price of admission; the Escalade cruised along with adaptive cruise control working flawlessly, maintaining a steady pace to the cars in front of it. With a hulking V8 and a 5,800-pound curb weight, fuel economy is about as poor as you'd expect. The 2022 Escalade actually gets worse fuel economy than it did last year, returning 14 miles per gallon city, 19 highway, and 16 combined in this four-wheel-drive spec. The previous version achieved 14 city, 21 highway, and 17 combined with all-wheel drive.

The Cadillac Escalade has a comfortable and smooth ride. It's easy to handle, even though it's a large SUV. The steering is precise and the brakes are responsive. The adaptive cruise control is a great feature that makes driving long distances more bearable. The Cadillac Escalade is a great choice for those who are looking for a luxurious and powerful SUV. It has a spacious interior and exterior, plenty of high-end features, and a strong engine. However, it's not the best choice for those who are looking for a family-friendly SUV.

Performance

The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size SUV that first hit the market in 1999. Since then, it has become known for its luxurious interior appointments and powerful engine options. The Cadillac Escalade has a 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It's paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and can tow up to 8300 pounds. The Cadillac Escalade has a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds.

The Escalade also features an adaptive suspension system that automatically adjusts to changing road conditions. As a result, the Cadillac Escalade provides a smooth and comfortable ride, even when hauling a heavy load. Thanks to its advanced engineering, the Cadillac Escalade is able to handle even the most demanding tasks with ease. For anyone looking for a full-size SUV that delivers on performance, the Cadillac Escalade is the ideal choice.

Fuel Economy

The Cadillac Escalade is a large luxury SUV with a gas guzzling reputation. The 2019 model has an EPA estimated fuel economy of 15 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway. While these numbers are low, they are an improvement over the 2018 model which only got 14 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway. In order to get these improved fuel economy numbers, Cadillac made some changes to the Escalade. They added start-stop technology to the engine which shuts off the engine when the vehicle is stopped. They also modified the transmission shifts and improved the aerodynamics of the SUV. Despite these improvements, the Escalade is still not very fuel efficient when compared to other SUVs on the market. If you are looking for an SUV with good fuel economy, you would be better off looking elsewhere.

Trim

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade comes in four different trim levels: the Standard, the Luxury, the Premium Luxury, and the Platinum. Each trim level offers its own unique features and amenities, so it's important to choose the one that best suits your needs. The Standard trim level includes features like heated front seats, a hands-free tailgate, and a Heads Up Display. The Luxury trim adds more luxurious features like a Bose sound system and a panoramic sunroof. The Premium Luxury trim takes things even further with features like adaptive cruise control and a rear-seat entertainment system. Finally, the Platinum trim is the ultimate in luxury, with features like massaging front seats and a curved OLED display. No matter which trim level you choose, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade is sure to turn heads.

Safety

The all-new 2022 Cadillac Escalade features a suite of advanced safety technologies designed to help protect occupants and pedestrians alike. The Escalade's new front bumper is equipped with sensors that can detect an approaching pedestrian or cyclist, and automatically apply the brakes if a collision is imminent. The SUV's head-up display now projects information onto the windshield, helping the driver to keep their eyes on the road. Additionally, the Escalade is now available with an Enhanced Night Vision system that uses infrared cameras to identify potential hazards in low-light conditions. With these and other safety enhancements, the all-new Escalade is poised to set a new standard for automotive safety.

Storage

The all-new Cadillac Escalade is larger and more luxurious than ever before, and that includes its cargo space. With the third row of seats folded down, the Escalade offers a massive 120.9 cubic feet of storage room. That's enough space to comfortably accommodate everything from luggage to beach gear to sporting equipment. And for even more flexibility, the second row of seats can be folded down as well. When configured in this way, the Escalade provides a generous 63.0 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row. As a result, the all-new Cadillac Escalade is one of the most versatile and spacious SUVs on the market.

How Much Does the Cadillac Escalade Cost?

The base price for the Cadillac Escalade is $75,195. The base luxury trim comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and automatic high beams. The flagship SUV trim starts at $81,195 and adds on 20-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free liftgate, and a sunroof. The Cadillac Escalade is available in eight exterior colors: Black, White, Silver, Gray, Brown, Red, Blue, and Gold.

The Cadillac Escalade has a spacious and well-designed interior. It comes standard with leather seats, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver's seat and with a leather covered dash. The passenger's seat is also power-adjustable, but it's not heated. The backseat is spacious and has plenty of legroom. The third row is a bit tight, but it's still manageable.

The Cadillac Escalade comes standard with an infotainment system that includes a 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The Escalade Premium Luxury starts at $84,895. In addition to the base trim's features, the Premium Luxury comes with genuine leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, reverse automatic emergency braking, a rearview mirror camera, automatic seat-belt tightening, and parallel and perpendicular park assist.

Overall thoughts, Cadillac Escalade is a great SUV for those who want a luxurious and powerful vehicle. It has a spacious interior and exterior, plenty of high-end features, and a strong engine. It's also one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs on the market, which is a plus. However, it's not the best choice for those who are looking for a family-friendly SUV. It has a tight third row and the starting price is quite high. If you're willing to pay the price, though, the Cadillac Escalade is a great choice, has a comfortable ride quality thanks to its independent suspension and air ride dampers. It also has a curb weight of around 5,600 pounds, which gives it good stability on the road. On the downside, the Cadillac Escalade is a bit lacking in terms of cargo space. It has a maximum of  cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
